Irrespective of todays advanced maitenance strategies and the complex functionality of the most powerful CMMS systems and CBM tools. Neither can gaurentee that an industriesmaintenance departments efficiency and effectiveness will increase. The facts are that employing some or all of the above, more often than not compound an already overloaded and largly reactive workforce. This is caused by so called improvement initiatives providing additional emergent work triggers such as condition based maintenance prompts to be churned out of the CMMS without the organisation having a structured WORK MANAGEMENT process in place.

Definition of Work Management

"Work management is a deliberate process carried out to facilitate the, Identification, Selection, Planning, Scheduling, Delivery and review of Work".

The above statement sounds pretty straight forward and most companies believe thay are doing it well, this is not the case, research shows that in industrial operations between only 24% - 60% of planned maintenance activity is actually completed to schedule at the end of a defined delivery period.

This is why major companies with successful OEE and Availability KPI's are focussing thier attention on Work ManagementInitiatives, striving to further enhance competativeness by driving down internal inefficiency through non effective Work,Planning & Control processes.

PCMS have developed a comprehesive Work Management program that will address in a structured implementation the following key activities vital tosuccessful delivery of maintenance tasks:

The processes PCMS have developed are currently being implemented in highly regulated blue chip environments where the realisation that investment into technology and advanced methodologies has limited effect on changing the cultural challenges that have a direct impact on the safety and productivity targets demanded by the economic and legaslative climate we find ourselves in.

They have taken the initiative to invest in the most important assets......THEIR STAFF...... this is where the gains are to be made PCMS recognise this and have made cultural change in the maintenance environment a key service deliverable.
