Has your Company has focused on a business driver to improve process reliability through maintenance and process optimisation. Your own experiences may show that Predictive Maintenance must form a central element of this strategic initiative to achieve the aim of delivering added value and high degrees of plant reliability and availability to the business. To this end, you may be developing long term relationships with suppliers of PdM products and services to support your business objectives.
As you have recognised, for critical applications, implementation of PDM technology is now considered a requirement to ensure safety, maintain critical services, increase market competitiveness and decrease operating expenses and downtime. However technology implementation even when cost justified, will not in itself drive out the many benefits to be gained by the effective implementation of a continuous Improvement strategy.
A1. PCMS began trading as a Limited company in 1993. We are a dynamic, progressive company focussed on market led solutions to improve industrial reliability. PCMS is based in the UK, however recognition of our business expertise has resulted in International engagements. With over 30 years industrial experience we can provide our customers the complete maintenance service, which covers several key areas or carryout selected maintenance tasks as required by individual customers.
A2. At PCMS, our entire business is Reliability with the goal of improving plant / client profitability. PCMS is the only condition monitoring company that has developed and combined all the proven predictive maintenance technologies and work management procedures to support one comprehensive philosophy dedicated to maintenance optimisation. PCMS is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company. The scope of our certification is as follows:
“Provision of advanced engineering technical solutions for plant reliability optimisation”
A3. PCMS employs leading edge technology for a reliability programme which in many categories is accepted as ‘Best of Breed’. More importantly in a turnkey operation, PCMS also has the expertise, industry specific benchmark data, people and proven processes to enable PdM ‘tools’ to drive out the measurable business benefits from the considered implementation of a reliability based strategy.
A4. PCMS can provide any mix of instrumentation, system design, installation supervision, commissioning services, consulting services, operator training, service training, vibration diagnostic courses, repair service and telephone support to meet our customers needs.
A5. Whether it is to provide maintenance
optimisation as a contract service or to help in the development of in-house
capabilities PCMS has a professional offering. These services include assistance
in procuring diagnostic equipment, conducting equipment condition assessments,
developing equipment condition reports, and performing cost-saving analysis.
Follow-up visits at periodic intervals further ensure programme health and
development.
Q. What is meant by Reliability Optimisation Solution (ROS) ?
A1. PCMS promotes an integrated, technology based approach to maintenance
known as Reliability Optimisation Soution (ROS). The ROS, approach systematically
identifies critical equipment assets and applies an optimised maintenance
approach to them. This approach has been shown to deliver cost effective increases
in plant availability and reliability. PCMS’s integrated condition monitoring,
diagnostic, corrective, technologies and experience, are key factors in maintaining
successful reliability programmes.
A2. ROS encompasses a maintenance optimisation process to identify and rank each piece of equipment according to its criticality to process availability, process throughput, product quality, safety environment, and operational costs. This systematic approach, uses sophisticated techniques to identify equipment critical to meeting business objectives.
Q. How sure can we be of success ?
A1. PCMS has found that the success of a reliability initiative and ensuring the continued support across the business largely depend on the continuous, accurate, documentation and reporting of savings attributable to the reliability programme. PCMS is committed through a ‘Cost Justified’ approach to measures and metrics to track, record and report on success.
A2. With proven evidence, customers
have realised return on their investment in less than 12 months from implementation
of full ROS as a maintenance optimisation strategy at their plant(s).
Q. How do we routinely keep contact with PCMS
A1. Each project will have a dedicated ‘Project Manager’ assigned who will be responsible for day to day communication, assistance and general administration.
A2. In all programmes PCMS suggest
that a communications ‘Steering Committee’ is established to formulate
good channels of communication and provide strategic direction to the programme.
The PCMS project manager will attend all Steering Committee meetings.
Q. How does PCMS integrate maintenance activities ?
A1. The ROS concept of integrated technologies includes vibration analysis;
continuous online vibration monitoring; oil analysis; infrared thermography;
motor diagnostics; ultrasonics; smart sensors and corrective tools such as
alignment and balancing. Each of these technologies has an important individual
role, as well as a key position in the overall ROS programme.
Q. Are PCMS involved in
new technology development ?
A1. Significant proportion of PCMS’s profits, are routinely re-invested
in Research and Development; this keeps PCMS at the leading edge of reliability.
We employ an aggressive product development program to ensure that PCMS continuously
offers innovative products for Reliability Optimisation
A2. PCMS currently is developing cutting edge Web-Based condition monitoring technology. These technical products developed around our Work Planning & Control Processes will make reliability optimisation programmes available to companies both large and small.
Q. Can PCMS support our Oil Analysis Programme ?
A1. PCMS Tribology consulting offers a broad range of services designed to establish, improve, or maintain lubrication programmes. PCMS has the capability to provide consultancy at the highest level in tribology.
A2. PCMS’s Web-enabled Laboratory, is one of the world’s most advanced lubricant analysis laboratories. PCMS can provide you with a managed lubrication service contract including route cause analysis and detailed analysis of industrial lubricants via web, modem, or e-mail transfer.
Q. Can PCMS help with our
training needs ?
